When You Start Something and Instantly Doubt It
Have you ever said yes to something and then immediately thought, “What the frog was I thinking?” That moment, right after the decision, is where doubt gets loudest. Not later, not after failure, right at the beginning.
The Moment Everything Feels Like Too Much
You commit to something new: a project, a direction, a version of yourself you haven’t fully stepped into yet. And almost instantly the questions arrive: “Do I even have the energy for this?” “Why did I think I could do this?” “What if I can’t follow through again?” It’s not just doubt, it’s overwhelm layered on top of doubt. And if you’re already carrying stress, fatigue, or uncertainty in other areas of your life, it hits even harder.
I’ve been there. For me, it showed up in the middle of health challenges, emotional overload, and trying to find clarity while everything felt off. And yet that’s often exactly when the next step shows up.
Why Growth Feels Like a Mess at First
When you start changing your life, it doesn’t feel clean and inspiring. It feels like you just stirred up everything you had been avoiding. It’s like digging into a mountain. You don’t see progress right away. Instead, you see dirt, rocks, and a bigger mess than when you started. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It means you’ve finally touched something real. And as I always say, it’s still just a mountain. You move it one bucket at a time.
The Real Danger Isn’t Failure, It’s Drifting
You’ve probably heard the “boiling frog” idea. It’s not the sudden shock that gets you, it’s the slow, subtle drift. It’s the habits you ignore, the exhaustion you normalize, and the quiet misalignment you keep pushing past.
That’s where I found myself at one point, not crashing, just slowly draining. I knew better and still felt stuck. I understand that’s a hard place to admit, especially when you’re used to being strong, capable, and holding it all together.
So I Did Something Uncomfortable
I didn’t wait to feel ready, I started anyway. For me, that looked like stepping into something far outside my comfort zone. I began showing up more visibly, sharing more openly, and starting things I wasn’t fully sure I could sustain. It wasn’t a strategic move. It was a necessary one, because I needed to shift the state of my atmosphere.
Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t in thinking more. It’s in moving differently.
The “Eat the Frog” Truth, With a Twist
You’ve heard the advice: do the hardest thing first. And yes, that works. However, here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not just about discipline, it’s about alignment and capacity.
Some days, the “frog” isn’t just a task. It’s the emotional resistance behind it, fear, doubt, and the pressure to get it right. Therefore, instead of forcing it, I learned to regulate first, get grounded in my body and breath, and then take the next step from that steadier place. Because when your internal state shifts, the hard thing becomes doable.
When You Hit the Fork in the Road
This is the moment that defines everything. You’ve started, you’re uncomfortable, and people may not understand what you’re doing. That shouldn’t matter, because this is your path. Now what? You have two options: retreat back to what’s familiar, or keep moving without needing full certainty.
And here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear: you don’t need confidence to continue, you need willingness and commitment to your cause. Confidence is something you build because you kept going.
What Keeps You Moving Forward
For me, it wasn’t motivation that kept me going. It was remembering that I’ve done hard things before, that I’ve moved through challenges that felt impossible at the time, and that I don’t need to have everything perfectly figured out to take the next step. Neither do you. This isn’t about proving anything. It’s about becoming someone who follows through, aligned, grounded, and resilient.
Why Starting Something New Feels So Overwhelming
If you’re in that space right now, where you’ve started something and already feel like backing out, pause before you quit. Ask yourself honestly: is this truly wrong for me, or is it just uncomfortable because I’m growing? There’s a difference, and knowing that difference changes everything.
If you find yourself starting and stopping, questioning your decisions, or feeling overwhelmed every time you try to move forward, there’s usually a deeper misalignment happening underneath. This is exactly the work I guide women through. We don’t just focus on what you’re doing. We look at how you’re showing up internally, so you can move forward with clarity, steadiness, and trust in yourself again.
You don’t need to keep second-guessing every step. I’m here when you’re ready to move forward in a way that actually feels aligned.
