Walking Your Life Journey with Awe, Wonder, and True Freedom

Hello friends, I’m so glad you’re here.

What you’ll find in this space is not just wisdom gained from living over seven decades. Instead, it’s a living example of why you can trust that everything in your life is working together for your highest good.

Now let’s get real for a moment: one of the most heated and divisive topics in history causing disagreements, estrangement, and even wars is religion.

Don’t Click Away Just Yet

In the next few minutes, I’m going to offer you practical, freeing insights. These can help you embark on your personal life journey with awe, wonder, and unshakable peace.

You may even find yourself unlocking the mysteries of the universe. Sound bold? Maybe. But I promise, it’s all already inside you, waiting to be awakened.

Structure and Spirit: When to Follow and When to Flow

Over the years, I’ve learned that there’s a time for structure. Similarly, there’s a time to be untethered.

Religious systems can sometimes serve as a helpful starting point. However, if you’ve ever felt that religion is too rigid, confusing, or even wounding, that’s not God’s fault. Rather, that’s the result of human misuse, manipulation, and misunderstanding.

That’s not God’s heart for you.

Healing the Father Wound and Reframing the Past

It took me a long time to embrace the idea of God as a loving Father.

My own upbringing was shaped by a disconnected family dynamic. Specifically, one heavily affected by generational trauma and survival from historical tragedies like The Depression, World War II, and the Korean War.

Then came the assassination of President Kennedy and other events that shattered the trust of an entire generation, mine included.

As children, we could see that even the adults didn’t know how to handle the chaos. Consequently, that lack of direction stayed with us, causing insecurity and instability.

The First Step to Healing

Here’s the first step to healing:

You must forgive the past, even if it doesn’t seem forgivable.

Forgiveness doesn’t excuse the hurt. Instead, it releases you from being tethered to it. It’s one of the most honorable, selfish acts humans can perform.

Whether your history resembles mine or looks completely different, the truth remains: our parents and teachers could only operate from what they knew.

They didn’t understand trauma the way we are able to today. They didn’t know how invisible pain can spread through generations like mold. Silent, toxic, and persistent.

Breaking Free from Religious Guilt and Generational Cycles

You might have heard phrases like:

  • “Go to church and be good.”
  • “Do as I say, not as I do.”
  • “Never question authority.”

These messages don’t nurture growth. Instead, they keep people stuck in routines driven by fear, shame, and guilt rather than love and freedom.

Belonging to a church or spiritual community isn’t the issue. Rather, it’s what you’re becoming inside those spaces that matters.

Are you growing? Or are you just going through the motions?

If the words God, church, or religion make you cringe, I get it. I’ve been there. When spiritual life is built on control instead of connection, it’s hard to see God as anything other than another authority figure to rebel against or hide from.

Three Life-Changing Steps to Reclaim Your Journey

If you want to break free from cycles that no longer serve you and truly step into your divine path, here’s where to begin:

1. Take Personal Responsibility

Don’t look for someone to blame. Instead, own your life, your healing, and your future.

When you do this, you become a cycle breaker, a healer, a hero.

You redeem not only yourself but the generations that came before you. Furthermore, you set up a new legacy without the same heavy burdens.

2. Acknowledge, Accept, and Forgive

Write down every painful memory, every hurtful experience.

Forgive each person involved, including yourself.

Then visualize cutting the cord that ties you to that pain. Let it fall. Feel the relief.

That’s what freedom feels like.

3. Release the Mental Clutter

Whatever takes up unnecessary space in your heart and mind—write it out, cry it out, speak it out.

Give yourself a time limit to feel the feelings. However, don’t move into that house.

Eventually, the pain will become just a fact of the past, not a force that controls you.

As healing happens, you make room for joy, curiosity, and new beginnings.

Rediscovering Awe and Wonder in Your Spiritual Journey

Years ago, I asked God to help me understand a specific verse that used words like fear and tremble in relationships to life — Philippians 2:12-13.

What I heard changed everything: “Work out your own journey with respectful awe and childlike excitement and wonder.”

That’s not fear as in terror. Rather, it’s reverence, honor, and a wide-open heart.

And when the verse says “tremble,” I believe it should be understood as trembling with excitement. Like a child on the way to their first amusement park.

This fresh perspective lifted my thoughts, softened my heart, and gave me emotional space to trust life as a safe place.

The Path Will Shift, Let It

Often, when I sit down to write, what I plan to say takes a divine turn. And I welcome that because these unexpected shifts are part of the awe and wonder of walking with God.

This isn’t about being perfect. Instead, it’s about being present, being open, and being free.

Your Turn: Take the Challenge

Surrender.

Release.

Forgive, with grace and compassion.

And then… live. Live your journey with respectful awe, childlike wonder, and contagious excitement.

You are not alone. You were made for this.

This is a topic I’ll revisit from time to time. Meanwhile, if this resonates with you, share it with someone who might need a breath of fresh air in their spiritual journey.

Let’s rise together. 💛
